“She’s been everybody else’s girl maybe one day shell be her own
Everybody else’s girl maybe one day she’ll be her own.”
I have not been a fan of Tori Amos’s later work but I love the album Little Earthquakes. Back in the days of cassette tapes,my best friend made me a copy of the album on a cassette tape and I listened to it until I thought the tape in the cassette might break.
I love how the song builds from slow and almost sweet to a crescendo of piano and Tori’s voice as she repeats the chorus that really comes out strong. It washes over you and allows you to really feel the emotions of the song.
Also the lyrics are so powerful in this song. Tori Amos is nothing if not a wonderful song writer. I like how she puts together everyday images and emotional images.
Apparently, this song is not as popular as “Cornflake Girl” because in doing a search on youtube, I could only find this one live performance of the song.
