I like this song because though there are instruments supporting the song, it is ALL about Etta’s singing. Her singing is amazing. I listened to both a studio recording and the clip I am posting which is a live performance when Ms. James is much older and she still sounds so full and beautiful.

There is such a sense of relief in the first “At last” in the song, it really expresses the feeling of finding that one special someone and realizing you’d found what you’d always been looking for.

I also like that it is a love song and is slow and sultry instead of perky and upbeat. A song to grab the one you love and dance close with them too.
