All Over You – Live

n my world the band Live made one album called Throwing Copper that was really awesome and then they just ceased to exist. According to wikipedia that is not accurate but I am just going to continue to believe it, if that is okay with everyone. Wikipedia also alleges the lead singer is inspired by Matchbox 20, I don’t want to talk about that either.

This is just a good old fashion 90’s alternative rock song. Yes, back then there was a whole genre called alternative. Alternative to what? Let’s not get into that right now.

This song has great guitar in it. My husband has pointed out that when I say “slow” I often really mean less complex arrangements that go into more complex arrangements. This has that as well. The guitar sounds pretty complex to me all the way through but its slower and less “rock”. When I think of rock I think of a sound that makes you want to jump and shake what some equivalent action.

I love these lyrics:

Our love is like water
Pinned down and abused
For being strange

I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. Really even if you read all the lyrics it is totally unclear what this song is about. I always took it to be about a relationship that is misunderstood by those outside it. Either way its a good rock song that is easy to sing along with. I like to refer to this kind of song as a “car song” because its something I would sing along to in the car.
