Ben Harper has a beautiful voice. And this song really showcases how soft it can be. If you wear earphones when listening to it, it seems as if he is whispering the song right to you.
His guitar playing is uncomplicated which allows his song to be the focal point.
The lyrics are interesting because they are obviously sad but they hint at an anger too. Like this stanza:
