The strange percussion instrument mixed with bass really combines to a neat sound that I have never heard before in music. Apparently King Crimson is known to do more unusual things with music. A very unique rock sound indeed.
The live version of this song is a lot longer than the studio cut. I would say I prefer the studio cut for this reason but that goes to my short attention span for songs. A reason I can’t get into the Grateful Dead.
I love how the vocals build along with the music and then break.
The lyrics to this song don’t fully make sense to me when I read them but I also took the song to be about someone who is waiting hopefully for a loved one but is sad too in their waiting. Its that bittersweet feeling of being in love but having to wait for the loved one when they are away.
