Oh Bork! You are priceless! (See SNL spoof of Bjork & Charles Barkley on Iconoclasts — it is hilarious!)
I still remember when I first saw a Bjork video. It was on MTV’s 120 Minutes back when the M stood for Music versus Muck. It was for a different song but I remember feeling SO cutting edge for watch 120 Minutes and actually enjoying this odd lady’s music.
This song appeals to me because it has just the right level of Bjork’s signature weirdness and a Big Band feel to it.
The contrast between the quiet and slow parts and then the loud, full band parts make me smile and verge on laughing because how often do you feel someone softly singing only to go into screaming over horns? And even if we don’t want to admit it, does describe how relationships can be.
The lyrics are adorable too:
you fall in love
the sky up above
is caving in
you’ve never been so nuts about a guy
you wanna laugh you wanna cry
you cross your heart and hope to die
