This song reminds me how serious I took things when I was in high school. Its comical now to think how much importance I placed on events and situations. Even bands that I loved so much like Oasis and now they have faded in time.
I still adore this song though. Not just for what it reminds me of but because its a good song. I love the slow burn of the song as it starts out almost like everyone is waking up as the song progresses. There is such passion in the vocals even when the song is slow which can be a difficult balance to strike.
I love the crispness of the drums. It reminds me of a marching band sound almost. So clean sounding. The guitars are also good and have a weird bent sound to them as if they are being distorted by bending the guitars. I am not sure if it’s a petal or not.
And the song comes together at the end in a blur of vocals, instruments and noise. Its amazing how far it goes in 7 minutes. Its like a different song toward the end. Until it comes back to a place of quiet again.
And I love the lyrics:
How many special people change?
How many lives are living strange?
Where were you while we were getting high?
Slowly walking down the hall
Faster than a cannonball
Where were you while we were getting high?
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova in the sky
Someday you will find me
Caught beneath the landslide
In a champagne supernova
A champagne supernova in the sky
