Yesterday, I didn’t just slip on my challenge. I outright fell.
A culmination of events took place to cause this to happen.
The first event was Friday night my husband’s flight was delayed. So he didn’t get in until 11:45pm. Which meant, I his ride home from the airport, did not arrive home with husband in tow until around 12:30am.
This caused the second event which was that I didn’t get up until 8:30am, a later than typical waking time for me. I did yoga at home and then instead of having breakfast, I took a shower because our water was going to be off from 10am until 2pm due to some sort of building plumbing issue. Which meant I didn’t eat breakfast until around 9:45am or so. And I fixed a big breakfast of sausage, eggs and toast.
The third event was I had an appointment to get my hair cut and dyed at 12:45pm. But since it was a bright, sunny spring day, I knew the area where my salon is would be crazy. So I left the house at noon. Since I only ate a huge breakfast 2 hours prior no lunch was consumed. I did however, pack some snacks in my purse.
After all my hair cutting and dying, it was 3p. I could have gone home to eat however, my husband was with me and he wanted to go to the Amoeba Records to sell some old DVDs we had. I was getting a little hungry at this point, but thought my snacks could hold me. However, my husband was hungry.
The fourth event was my husband said he wanted to grab some food at a hole in the wall BBQ place, called Huston’s near the Amoeba, also in our old neighborhood. This BBQ place has been around since 1944. And is A-MAZING. And I haven’t eaten there in a year or so. I just don’t have the occasion. I tried to reason with myself over why I could hold out and not have any BBQ this time around. However, my hunger and nostalgia got the best of me.
Though I would like to say I felt guilty as I bit into my pork BBQ sandwich. I didn’t. It was pure deliciousness. I have a little regret that I only made it 13 days before I totally folded and ate a whole meal out.
This does not mean the challenge is over! I am picking myself up and going to keep trying the rest of the month to do better.
That sandwich looks like it was well worth the slip up.
Oh Cecilie! You did so good making it this far! I totally couldn’t do it and didn’t even make it week! Don’t beat yourself up. That food looked worth it!
Mary and Hillary, the sandwich was worth it in taste. Thanks for the support.
